Debbie Caterson’s background is Banking and Finance assisting small business in achieving their financial goals. She started her banking career in 1974, leaving traditional banking in 1998 working for non-bank lenders providing SBA financing until 2012.
She received a Bachelor of Science, in Business Management, with an Emphasis on Accounting, from Linfield, College. She taught AIB classes as a Classroom Instructor, focusing on Commercial and Consumer Lending. She has been a guest Speaker for SBDC classes as well as a past Board member for 9 years prior to her current employment with SBDC/UBC.
Debbie has been a guest speaker at Northwest Christian College to speak with their Small Business classes. Debbie worked as an SBA Loan Officer for Coos, Curry, Douglas County Business Development for the SBA 504 Loan program.
She received numerous awards throughout her career: Top 10 SBA Lender in the Nation for
CIT Small Business Lending, #1 SBA Loan Officer for Western Bank two years running, Awarded 2005
SBA Advocate of the Year in Oregon, Debbie was a board member for the Roseburg Country Club.
She also runs a gluten free baking mix company known as Inspiration Mixes, selling locally as well as
nationally on amazon.com. Her company was inspired by her grandson who was diagnosed with autism
at 18 months and later found to be gluten and casein intolerant.
Her gluten free pizza is well known for its similarity to a wheat crust, which is currently being served at
Loggers Tap House and Loggers Pizza with plans to expand the crust into other locations.
Shani comes to UBC from Bandon where she gave 16 years of services to Southern Coos Hospital and Health Center. She has been a Douglas County resident for 6 years. Shani handles all event and meeting reservations, facilities management as well as the day-today functions of the building. She is also the main receptionist for the building.
